Here in the Southeast, we have been experiencing extremely dry weather. This has so many bad implications for the crops here. Affected crops include peanuts, cotton, wheat, barley, corn, and soybeans.
Also due to the dry conditions, there is little grass for grazing cattle. We need rain!
Here at The House of 9 Lives, foremost on our minds is the Catnip Crop! Many of you will be surprised to know there is a drug problem here. And, trust me, it’s not pretty when an addict can’t get a fix. Imagine nine of them! “He” and “She” could be facing a Kitty Revolt! What would we do without the green, leafy substance, Catnip?
Catnip is more than just a recreational drug for kitties. It also has another potential use; that of Mosquito (and other bugs) repellent. It has actually been found to be ten times more effective than DEET. But, more research and testing is required before it becomes commercialized as an insect repellent. If you would like to read the science-y technical information, you can find that here.
Back to the subject. While our thoughts are with the other areas of the Country which are being plagued with flooding, we keep hoping for a moderate rain. We really need it for all the crops and the cattle.
We’re Drying Out, Here….
