The original decor of the house was typical for the time it was built. It had dark wood panelling and dark carpeting and flooring. The lighting in the kitchen/dining room area was also sparse. (Click on any picture for an enlarged view).
After the original linoleum flooring was removed, we lived with bare concrete for a while before the kitchen renovation was started. In an effort to improve the look, “She” made a simulated brick floor:
The following pictures are of the renovation. All of the work was done by “He” and “She” except for the cabinets and the counter-tops. “He” could have built the cabinets, but not in the time constraints they worked under. The counter-tops which are Quartz had to be outsourced, and they are very happy with them! These are pictures of the kitchen renovation:
This white cabinet was built by “He” when he was in High School as a shop project. “She” just adores it!!
Replacing the old wooden door with a new French door really opened up the space and gave the whole area more light.
One of the most major changes was to the ceiling. They went from dingy white popcorn ceilings to a beautiful pine. One reason for doing this was to accomodate the new recessed lighting “She” just had to have.
After adding all new stainless steel appliances and a Jura Capressa Espresso machine, they now have the kitchen of their dreams. The only problem is, “She” still doesn’t want to cook!

Okay I’m loving He and She’s new kitchen!
Oooo … a nice kitchen.
He and She’s new kitchen is really, really nice! I especially like the fact that some of you made an appearance in the picture of the beautiful white cabinet.

I saw the kitchen at the various stages, and the pictures are awesome. I’m always impressed with what “He” and “She” can do. They’re awesome!
This kitchen is beautiful. I love it.
